The real-time occupation information of the parking areas is based on the data available on the PARKUNLOAD platform: number of slots per area, tickets started per zone, etc.
However, there are several sources of error that can reduce the reliability of occupancy data.
Improper use of the parking area
If there is a parked vehicle that does not indicate its arrival with the PARKUNLOAD app, then the platform can not detect that the parking space is occupied. As it would be the following cases:
- Vehicles without permission that park incorrectly during the regulation schedule.
- Vehicles with permission that do not notify the start of parking operation.
The existence of the first case depends on the level of municipal control, since in most cities, individuals can't park in Loading and Unloading areas within the regulation schedule.
Regarding the second case, PARKUNLOAD does minimizes the time it can take a driver to notify the start of parking operation using the mobile application or the widget.
Parking stop omission
If any vehicle leaves the parking bay without notifying the end of the parking operation with the app, then the platform can not detect the release of the parking area in real time.
For the benefit of all drivers, it is important that when you leave the parking you remember to click on "Stop parking", as this will allow us to communicate the availability of a empty spaces to the rest of drivers.
Estimated parking occupancy
Although the real-time occupancy calculation algorithm minimizes some of these error sources, it is necessary to take into account that the occupation is an approximate value and that it should be considered as an estimate.
